Cymone Wilder is a senior art director and lettering artist based in Nashville. Since 2013 she has collaborated with fun clients (see Netflix, Nickelodeon, HBO Max, Cosmopolitan, Planned Parenthood and New Belgium) creating custom lettering artwork for established brands, books, apparel, and much more. She is fiercely passionate about producing meaningful and long-lasting work, drawing inspiration from the black experience. In her spare time she enjoys ~pretending~ she’s super outdoorsy, and laughing with friends around bonfires. She doesn’t enjoy running, but does it a lot anyways.

Dozen Bakery Blueberry Muffin
The blueberry muffin from Dozen Bakery
I've heard that the fine folks at Dozen use a very special something something from France in their baked goods, but I choose to believe that there is crack in these muffins (and I cannot be convinced otherwise). It is soft! It is lightly toasty on the outside! It is buttery! And it falls apart ever so perfectly. I have yet to try a muffin that even comes close to this muffin. On its worst day, this muffin still remains supreme. I'll be honest, if I saw this muffin lying in the street, after long consideration, I would still let this beautiful baked good grace my insides. It is, and will forever be, my personality, my north star, and my obsession.

Taking photos of myself
Taking photos of myself
I know! I KNOW! Trust me, I know. I've been a long time sufferer of low self-confidence. So, I've started taking photos of myself each day to reflect a beauty that I have been unable to see most of my life. This is not going to turn into one of those YouTube videos where you see someone age for 10+ years. This is more a practice of creating beautiful art, and recognizing that I am that beautiful art. It feels narcissistic at times, but I look back at these photos, can feel how much more I appreciate the hotness that is me, and know that this effort is worth it.

"Rose Water" by Hiatus Kaiyote

There are some songs you listen to, and just know the artists were having funnnn. The passion, effort, and care put into this soulful masterpiece is palpable. It is an "exercise in musical mathematics," and I love listening to how each piece falls into place.

Second treadmill
The second, slightly malfunctioning treadmill at my gym
Several years ago, I lost about 100+ pounds in less than a year. My secret? Running. A lot. Like a lot, a lot. Though as the story goes, for many folks including myself, I gained that weight back. But, running has remained a staple of my morning routine. For my stupid mental health, you know? Recently, I have discovered that the second treadmill at my gym is a little stuck in a slightly declined position. And so, I get to "get my steps in" while still having a truly delightful time.

Porch
Friends on the porch

Any time I can spend with my friends on the porch, drinking wine, discussing hard things, fun things, or whatever, is time well spent. And look, if there's a bonfire near by...
